i got myself a rusted blade

the only thing covering it is a layer of rust (very erotic)
i plan to restore it
polishing it will prolly solve the rust then ill have to work on making a hilt
i have a bone that i can use
i forgot where i found it
i think it was from someone's food
i bet it will be hella cool to have a bone hilt
tho ill prolly fuck it up since i have never made one before
the bone already has a hole going through it, so it should be simple enough to expand it with a drill until the bottom fits through
the real challenge will be to make it a straight hole
but its ok, if that fails i can always fall back on one of the dozens of unsorted pieces of wood i have lying around
but id need to use the table saw of someone's workshop bc i have never been able to saw parallel lines before
if i cant managed even that, then ig ill just weave a hilt with yarn over some pieces of cardboard, that looks like it will work out just fine in my head (im a shape rotator, see)
sharpening is the easiest part, i already have a stone just for that
it will just take 3 hours to do by hand since the edge is completely blunt
but ill leave it for last bc i dont want it to be sharp while im still applying other forms of medieval torture to it
before that ill have to also make a sheath
normally they are made of leather, but from what i gather, leatherworking is a much bigger pain in the ass than sewing
still, i should be able to find sth made of leather if i rumage through enough ppl's trash
hopelly it will be a piece long enough for the blade (it can prolly be classified as a short sword, but no, its not a machete, it doesnt have that gay curve at the tip)
i dont have an awl, but im sure i can poke holes on the leather with a hammer and a small nail and then sew it normally
maybe with a triple thread for extra sturdiness
if i cant then ig ill just make one out of several layers of fabric with a spine made of popsicle sticks so it doesnt end up floppy
all this is basically the job of finishing a blade, so if it goes well, ill try to forge one from scratch next
easy peasy should be done before the weekend
