Now the playing field is far from even and we see just how much not being on the big platforms affects sales.

But DLSite is a site I hesitate to use for a few reasons, chief among them the PlayDRM and the lack of Paypal support. I suppose I can't really blame them for the latter since they had enough issues just keeping credit card support, but PlayDRM is that same type of awful activation-based DRM that Johren uses and I hate it, and most of DLSite's games have it <span class="bold">including LoveR Kiss Endless Memories despite the game being DRM-free on GOG. An utterly baffling decision. Then there's DMM which just outright refuses to take my gaijin money.

Getting censored or having a release on a major platform canceled for censorship-related reasons tends to flip a switch in Japanese publishers' heads that makes them all default to global/wider audience. You saw it happen to Compile Heart, you saw it happen to Marvelous, you saw it happen to D3P, and if what that poster up there is saying
